Shirley Jane(nee Vierra) Dusenbury Scanlon

March 22, 1927 -March 30, 2025

Shirley died peacefully in her home in San Leandro.

Lifelong resident of Alameda County. Daughter of George and Isabel Vierra. Attended St Mary’s Grammar School. Holy Names High School, and Providence College of Nursing. A lifelong farm girl, she loved working in the garden. Trained as a nurse, she worked few hours for pay, but worked many hours helping neighbors with their nursing needs. Shirley also enjoyed spending time and sharing meals with her family.

Preceded in death by husbands, Lyman Dusenbury and Robert Scanlon. Survived by daughters, Margaret Spadoni, Susan Sequeira (Mike), and Lauri Huffman (Dave). Survived by grandchildren: Nick, Joe, Annie, Mary, Catherine, Andrew, Greg, Kristie, and Caroline and12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held: viewing at Santos Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro, CA 94577 will be April 20, 3-7pm, , rosary 4pm, and vigil 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, April 21, 11:00am, Church of the Assumption, 1100 Fulton Avenue, San Leandro. Burial following Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
