Ryan Christie Obituary

Ryan Montgomery Christie, 47, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on June 14th, 2025, in San Leandro, California. Ryan was born in Boonville, Missouri, on September 6th, 1977, to Rick and Wilma Christie.

Ryan leaves behind a legacy built on kindness, humility, and an unwavering love for his children. He was a vibrant, charismatic man whose presence lit up every room he entered. He was known for his unforgettable voice, deep love for music, and his rare ability to connect with people.

He was a devoted father to his children. He nurtured individual relationships with each of them, tailoring his approach to their unique beliefs and interests. He poured his heart into every moment spent with them, offering not only guidance and protection, but a deep, abiding love that was the cornerstone of their lives. Whether he was dancing in the kitchen while cooking and singing Taylor Swift songs with the girls, cheering from the audience during plays or sidelines during sports events, or simply listening when they needed him most, Ryan was always there without hesitation. He taught his children not just how to live, but how to love—with patience, strength, and compassion.

Ryan also devoted his life to healing. As a trauma ICU Nurse, he stood on the front lines of crisis daily, offering not only his clinical expertise but also his calm presence and comforting touch. He had a rare gift for helping people through the most difficult moments of their lives, when hope seemed farthest away. This ability and intuition also allowed Ryan to have a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. He loved playing guitar, hiking, helping the less fortunate, and walking his dog, Nala. He found peace in nature, especially near the mountains, the ocean, and among animals.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit endures in songs, stories, and moments of joy and connection. Ryan's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by his wife, Rachel Christie, his four children, Rowan Van Horn, Landon Tarwater, Georgia Christie, and Willow Christie; his sisters, Tracy Moore, Aubrey Moore,Tara McLain, Mandy Christie, and Ashley Adams; and his brothers, Blake Garrett, and Jake Christie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, including his beloved grandmother, Georgia Mae Doyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
