Lucilia Da Silva, 82, of Palo Alto, CA, passed away on November 11th after a long health battle.
Lucilia was born on August 26th, 1941 to Belmira and Manuel Da Silva in San Joao on the island of Pico in the Azores, Portugal.
When she was 18 the family immigrated to the USA where they made their home in San Leandro. She graduated from San Leandro High in 1960.
After Lucilia graduated from Holy Names College she taught at MacGregor Jr High, then moved to Newark High and then Newark Memorial High teaching languages and art.
When she retired she devoted most of her time to jewelry making and help start the Cubberly Open Jewelry Studio. Her dream was to have an open jewelry studio in Palo Alto.
Her love of jewelry making developed into show quality. She was known for her silver windmill necklaces.
Lucilia loved to travel and visited many European countries. She had a love of animals, especially cats.
Lucilia was predeceased by her parents, Manuel & Belmira Da Silva. She is survived by her sister, Rosemarie and brother-in-law Kenneth Miller, Cousins Manuel and Margaret Jacinto, Fernando Antonio, and Esmeralda Cardoso.
Mass will be held at St. Leanders Catholic Church on November 28 at 10:30 AM.
