John Francis Marshall

Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, John (Jack) Marshall passed away on July 4, 2024.  His hospice was brief, and we are thankful that his last breath was peaceful.

Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Janeth (Jan), daughters Janine Lake (John), Judi Frates (Greg), Joann Bustos (Jim), grandchildren Natalie Kerch (Adam), Justin Lake (Abby), Eric Lake (Cassandra), Jessica Bustos, great grandchildren Audrey Kerch, Madeline Kerch, Logan Lake, Jaxon Lake, and sister, Sharon Marshall.

Jack was born in Oakland in 1934, then his family moved to San Leandro in 1944.  After he graduated from San Leandro High School in 1952, he joined the Navy Reserves.  He then trained to be a tool and die maker.

In 1956, Jack married Jan, the love of his life.  They bought their home in San Leandro in 1960 where they raised their family.

In 1989, Jack retired from Xerox, and enjoyed retirement to the fullest. 

He was a proud father.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, working on cars, taking Sunday drives with the family, taking trips to Alaska, and going on cruises.

Jack had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He had a great sense of humor, and cared deeply for his family and friends.
