On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Jaime Cosio Novoa passed away at age 95.
A loving husband to his wife Ramona Cosio for 74 years. Father of five children, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.
Jaime was born to Maria Dolores Novoa and Fernando Cosio Curiel on February 17, 1929, in Mascota, Jalisco, Mexico.
Jaime came to live in Oakland, CA in December of 1946 just shy of 18 years old.
He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 25 years as a car inspector and various other positions.
After retiring from Southern Pacific, Jaime became a Barber and barbered for 44 years. Around the age of 50, he became an entrepreneur and opened Jaime’s Barbershop in downtown Oakland where he served the community for more than 30 years.
Jaime had a love for sports, especially boxing and baseball. His pastimes included fishing, going to the horse races at Golden Gate Fields and A’s games at the Oakland Coliseum.
An original foodie, he and Ramona frequented an array of Bay Area restaurants. After retirement, he and Ramona traveled to many countries, checking off many items on their bucket list.
Jaime was best known for his quick-witted humor, fierce determination and his generous spirit. Teaching his children how to enjoy life was the highlight of fatherhood.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him extreme joy.
He will be missed dearly and eternally honored.
A memorial service will be held at Santos Robinson Morturary 160 Estudillo Ave.
