Damian Rogers Obituary

Damian Vito Rogers was born on May 6, 1973, in San Leandro, California, to his proud parents Maryann and Robert "Bob" Rogers. On May 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, Damian took his final ride, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of loyalty, friendship, and love. Damian spent his early years in Hayward, California, before settling in San Leandro and Oakland, where he lived for most of his life. He graduated from San Leandro High School in 1991 and spent much of his career working in the cannabis industry. More than any job title, however, Damian was known for the relationships he built and maintained throughout his life. To his family, he was Damian. To many friends, he was "Square." Whether you knew him by one name or the other, you knew exactly who he was, a larger-than-life personality with a heart as big as his opinions. His loyalty had no limits. He was a protector, a confidant, and the kind of friend who would show up when you needed him most. If you knew Damian, you knew his heartbeat in Silver and Black. A lifelong, devoted Raiders fan, he carried the passion and spirit of Raider Nation wherever he went. His love for the Oakland A's and Golden State Warriors ran just as deep, and game days were never just games they were events. One of Damian's greatest gifts was his ability to maintain lifelong friendships. In "The Dro" and throughout the Bay Area, it seemed everyone knew Square. Whether through childhood friendships, family connections, work, or countless adventures over the years, Damian left an impression that was impossible to forget. He lived life on his own terms, unapologetically and authentically, creating memories and stories that will be shared for generations. Damian is survived by his loving mother, Maryann (Fred); his sisters, Cathy Rogers and Nikki Rogers; his daughter, Marsela Calderon; and his granddaughter, Quinn Calderon. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Bobby Jr., Loren, Joseph, Marcus, Imani, Elijah, Makenna, and Lil Joseph; his great nieces and nephews, he had a special relationship with Mariah, Marcus Jr., Janiya and Juhriya; his aunts and uncles, Tom and Liz O'Neill, and Ellie and Steve Adams; along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends who became family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rogers; his siblings, Patricia Rogers and Robert Rogers; his grandparents, Tom and Phil O'Neill, and Ella and Al Costa. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heather and Carlo, Lynette, Tonyia, Krista and Gary, whose unwavering love, friendship, and support meant so much to Damian throughout his cancer journey. Your kindness and care brought comfort not only to Damian, but to all who loved him. The outpouring of love and support shown to our family, especially to our mother, has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. It is a testament to the impact Damian had on the lives of so many people. Though his seat at the table is empty, his spirit remains with us in every Raiders game, every shared story, every laugh among friends, and every memory made in his honor. Damian was truly one of a kind: memorable, irreplaceable, and deeply loved. He will be missed immensely, cherished forever, and carried in our hearts always. To honor Damian's memory, we invite you to raise a glass, wear your favorite Raiders, A's, or Warriors gear, and celebrate his life through friendship, laughter, and love; the things he valued most.
