Anthony Louis Fredotovich
August 25, 1949 - July 24, 2024
Oakland, CA
Anthony “Tony” Louis Fredotovich, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24th at the age of 74. Born in Oakland, California on August 25, 1949, Tony lived a life filled with music, joy, and love for his family.
A devoted husband of 42 years to Nan Fredotovich, Tony was a loving father to Willy, Gus, Sarah, Pete, and Sam. He was a proud grandfather to Gabby, Savannah, Skylar, Yannis, and Zsuzsi. He was also a cherished father-in-law to Daisy and Selesia. Tony was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Bernice Fredotovich and siblings Jeanette and Peter. Tony was a longtime employee at Safeway, where he dedicated 35 years of his career. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Berkeley, he furthered his education at St. Martin’s University in Washington.
Known for his infectious smile and friendly demeanor, Tony was adored by all who knew him. A passionate fan of Cal Bears football, Golden State Warriors, and Oakland Athletics, his love for sports was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. A proud father, he coached his sons’ basketball teams at St. Leanders. His love for music, particularly Motown, was legendary (and usually too loud). With Nan by his side he traveled the world and believed he could speak any language after only 1 local cocktail. Tony was an animal advocate, in particular a dog whisperer. Above all, Tony loved being “Vovô” and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, filling their lives with love, laughter and candy. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A service celebrating Tony’s life will be held on August 25th at 11:00 AM at Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, followed by a celebration in his honor.
