On Thursday October 2, 2025, at the age of 94, our dear mother, Angelina Marie Torres Cruz, passed away peacefully. Angelina was born on April 8, 1931, in Oakland, California, to Antonio Torres and Marie Pineda. She graduated from Holy Names High School in Piedmont, California in 1949. The following year she married Jess Peter Cruz. They welcomed the birth of their first child, Jess, in 1951. Two years late, they moved to San Leandro (the Manor), where their family grew with the addition of three daughters. Angelina would spend 63 years at her home on Churchill Street. She lived her final years at the Carlton Plaza.to Angelina volunteered as a Camp Fire Girl Leader and with the PTA at Lewelling Elementary School, serving in various roles from room mother to PTS President. She went to work at Mervyn’s Department Store in San Lorenzo and spent almost 20 years as a sales associate in the Boys Department. After leaving Mervyn’s, she dedicated many hours to her backyard gardening. Angelina is preceded in death by her husband, her son Jess M. Cruz, her great granddaughter Ashlynn Rae Hatch, and her siblings, Alvin Torres, Ramona Torres Cermen, Mary Torres Rivera, Jesus ‘Babe” Torres, Lupe Torres Aguirre and Joseph Torres. She leaves behind her three daughters Geraldine Miller, Roberta Volbrecht, Alice Smith, six grandchildren, April Hatch, Jesse Cruz, Roxanne Miller, David Miller, Nathan Smith and Chloe Smith: and three great-grandchildren Raven Hatch, Harley Hatch and Lily Cruz. A visitation for Angelina will be held on Thursday, October 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Santos Robinson Funeral home, 160 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro, CA. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 10th at 10:00 a.m., at St. Felicitas Catholic Church, 1662 Manor Blvd. San Leandro, CA. Interment immediately following Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetary, Oakland. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception. Details regarding the reception will be shared at the service.
