Walter Bielaski, 89, a long-time resident of San Leandro, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from natural causes. He was born September 26, 1927 and raised in North Tonawanda, NY. The son of George Bielaski & Teofila (Dora) Wojcik, he was one of 8 children. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Joseph, Richard, Frank, Dolores and Robert. He leaves behind Dorothy, his loving wife of 66 years; daughter Pauline [and Russell] Smith; son Ronald [and Karen] Bielaski; daughter, Anne [and Jim] Manha; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother John [and Shirley], sister Nancy [and William] Firth, and many other close relatives & friends. He was a loving father and grandfather.
After serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy, he worked for 12 years at Shaklee Corporation. Walt was competitive. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, playing cards & other intellectually stimulating games, travel, and was an avid golfer. Walt was also a life-long student and musician, and active in his church. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, the American Legion, a past President of the Mr. & Mrs. Dance Club, and an original member of Caddie Shacker Golf Club. He will be lovingly and joyously remembered and greatly missed.
Visitation on Sept. 21 from Noon with a Vigil service at 6:30 pm at Santos-Robinson Mortuary in San Leandro. Funeral Liturgy on Sept. 22 at 11 am at Church of Assumption in San Leandro. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
